A conversation between a Master and his Pupil \u2014 with a story, a warning, and a choice.<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Pupil:<\/strong>
\nMaster, do you really think we can change things? This whole system?<\/p>\n

Master:<\/strong>
\nChange is always possible.
\nBut system change, child, never comes by waiting.<\/p>\n

Pupil:<\/strong>
\nThen how?<\/p>\n

Master (pausing):<\/strong>
\nLet me tell you a story. It begins not with humans\u2026 but with baboons.<\/p>\n

Pupil:<\/strong>
\nBaboons?<\/p>\n

Master:<\/strong>
\nYes. A troop in East Africa. Fierce. Hierarchical. Violent.
\nTheir strongest males ruled through fear.
\nThey took the best of everything \u2014 food, mates, shelter.
\nThe others obeyed. Or suffered.<\/p>\n

One day, the troop found an easy source of food: a restaurant dumpster<\/strong>.
\nEvery morning: meat scraps, rich and abundant.
\nAnd as always, the alpha males fought and fed first.<\/p>\n

But then\u2026 the meat turned out to be tainted with tuberculosis<\/strong>.
\nThe aggressive males, gorged and proud, ate the most.
\nAnd they died. Every last one.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pupil (stunned):<\/strong>
\nAnd the rest?<\/p>\n

Master:<\/strong>
\nThe survivors were mostly females and gentle, low-ranking males<\/strong>.
\nAnd in that silence\u2026 something amazing happened.<\/p>\n

They didn\u2019t rebuild the old order.
\nThey didn\u2019t crown new kings.<\/p>\n

They chose peace<\/strong>.
\nMore grooming. More sharing.
\nLess fear. Less violence.
\nEven new males who joined them adapted.
\nThe culture \u2014 their culture<\/strong> \u2014 had changed.<\/p>\n

Pupil:<\/strong>
\nThey never went back?<\/p>\n

Master:<\/strong>
\nThey remembered where hierarchy had taken them.
\nAnd they vowed, in their way:<\/p>\n

Never again.<\/p>\n

Pupil:<\/strong>
\nBut we\u2019re not baboons.<\/p>\n

Master (softly):<\/strong>
\nNo.
\nWe are more intelligent.
\nAnd far more afraid.<\/p>\n

You see, we are trapped in our own hierarchy.
\nOne masked by civility, but built on the same rules:
\nThe strongest eat first. The rest compete for leftovers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And just like those baboons, we are gorging ourselves on poisoned meat \u2014
\nfossil fuels, endless growth, extractive comfort.
\nIt\u2019s killing us.
\nQuietly.
\nBut surely.<\/p>\n

Pupil:<\/strong>
\nSo what do we do?<\/p>\n

Master:<\/strong>
\nYou choose your path.<\/p>\n

Some will cling to what they know.
\nThey will become marauders<\/strong> \u2014 not out of evil, but desperation.
\nThey will fight over what\u2019s left.<\/p>\n

But others \u2014 the visionaries<\/strong> \u2014 will begin to build something else.
\nEven now, they are growing food again.
\nSharing again.
\nLearning how to live without waiting for permission.<\/p>\n

Pupil:<\/strong>
\nAnd what happens when the system collapses?<\/p>\n

Master:<\/strong>
\nThe visionaries will remember how to begin again.
\nThey will become the keepers of a different story.
\nA culture not of dominance\u2026
\nbut of care.<\/p>\n

Pupil (quietly):<\/strong>
\nI want to be one of them.<\/p>\n

Master:<\/strong>
\nThen begin.
\nNow.
\nPlant what you want the future to inherit.
\nNot when it\u2019s easy.
\nBut before the silence.<\/strong>
\nThis is the last harvest.<\/p>\n

Call to Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To those reading this:
\nYou don\u2019t need to lead a movement.
\nYou don\u2019t need permission.
\nYou just need to start.<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Grow something.<\/li>\n
  • Learn something.<\/li>\n
  • Share something.<\/li>\n
  • Organize your community.<\/li>\n
  • Leave the old story \u2014 even if just in how you treat others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    A peaceful reset is possible.
    \nBut only if enough of us walk out before<\/strong> collapse pushes us out.<\/p>\n

    The baboons rewrote their story.
